Buy a Strong Inner Horse Fence Kit:
The basic kits will extend out to any length. To match your desired length, get a 320-foot or 640-foot basic kit, and then add as many 640 "add-on" kits as may be needed. These fences are made mostly of 5/8-inch round fiberglass posts spaced 35 feet apart with studded steel T-posts standing at the corners. The basic kits, both the 320-foot and 640-foot versions, come with 4 sets of parts needed to execute a corner or sharp turn, and each add-on 640-foot kit has 1 more set. If you need more than that, try to purchase your kits so as to match your needs (for example, if you need 8 corners or turns in a 900-foot fence, buy one 320-foot kit (13-51) and one 640-foot kit (13-52). One can also purchase additional corners using the corner kit table at the bottom of this page.
All of the kits come with 4 runs of polyrope, so that 2 of the 4 ropes can be grounded by means of a double-throw switch. If this is done, a target animal touching both a charged rope and a grounded rope will get a shock, even if the ground is hard-frozen or bone dry. This four-rope structure is also appropriate for fences over a quarter-mile long, because ground rods spaced out along the fence line at quarter-mile intervals can be linked together and tied to the fence charger's ground terminal using nothing more than the bottom (grounded, uncharged) run of polyrope. Hookup arrangements are clearly and carefully explained in the instructions.
Because AC, battery, and solar-powered chargers are all suitable for these fences, the basic kit does not include a charger, nor does it include ground rods or a gate. Instead, all of these parts are offered below in separate tables. So those wishing to construct a fence of this sort should first purchase one or more basic kits to get the desired length of fence, with the desired number of corners, from the first table below, and should then get the appropriate charger, ground rod(s), and gate(s) from the tables that follow.
