About Our Portable Paddock and Corral Kits:
These fence kits are ideal for carrying in a horse trailer or taking on an overnight trail ride because they are so compact. Their main parts are five step-in posts, a reel of half-inch polytape, a small fence charger, a two-foot ground rod, and some tent pegs. That means that aside from the 5-foot plastic posts the whole thing can be put in a bucket and taken anywhere. And it can be set up or taken down in a few minutes. Just put the five stirrip-style step-in posts in the ground to provide four corners and a gate, unreel the half-inch polytape to make either one or two runs of conductor (your choice), set the 2-foot ground rod in the ground, attach the charger (it's plenty strong, but it also runs for 6 weeks on 4 flashlight batteries), secure the corner posts with tent pegs if desired, hook in the gate handle, and you're done.
Except at the gate, your posts can be as much as 40 feet apart. So if you want more than a 40-foot enclosure (say 80 x 80 feet), get our larger (80 x 80) paddock/corral kit. (You can purchase either on our Buy a Portable Paddock/Corral Kit page.) In case you would like to create a more or less circular corral over 80 feet across with 2 runs of half-inch tape, additional tent pegs (enough to provide 2 pegs for each post) come in the larger (80 x 80) kit.
STRENGTHS: Affordable, portable, easy to install.
WEAKNESSES: It is not the aim of these portable fences to be robust, and the shock they administer is relatively mild. So horses should be accustomed to them in advance, and they should not be used to contain difficult or escape-prone horses where no back-up fences are in place.
LENGTHS OFFERED: 160 and 320 feet.
COST: As little as $205 with charger.
