About Our Permanent Outer Fence Kits:

These fences are very popular. True, they are a bit more expensive than our interior fences, but one gets more for one's money. These fences stand 5 feet tall, carry 5 runs of polyrope or 1.5-inch polytape on three-quarter-inch fiberglass posts and studded steel T-posts. They are strong (each rope has over 900 pounds breaking strength) and very durable. So they are well-suited to serving as the sole outer fence containing horses; and they are a great deal less expensive than other permanent horse fences made of vinyl, wood, or woven wire. It is worth noting fences with thick fiberglass posts at the corners can provide an effective and affordable alternative to T-posts, but this option is covered on another page (see Complete Fiberglass Fences.

STRENGTHS: Robust and suitable for use as stand-alone horse fences. Like our strong inner fences, these outer fences are effective, visible to horses, long-lasting, economical, and suitable for use where the ground is dry or frozen.

WEAKNESSES: Designed for strength and permanence, these fences are not easily moved about.

LENGTHS OFFERED: Any length desired starting at 640 feet (sold in 640-foot increments and 360-foot extender increments). The polyconductors in these fence kits are not designed to carry a charge more than 5,000 feet from the charger. If greater length is desired, we recommend substituting the polyrope provided in the kit with another quarter-inch polyproduct, either polyrope 02-95 with tinned copper wires, range 3+ miles, or electrobraid (product 02-64) with copper wires, range over 8 miles. You can do this by following the kit customizing instructions found at the bottom of the table in the Permanent Outer Horse Fence Kit Parts Section.

CONDUCTORS OFFERED: We offer both polyrope and polytape versions. To reduce wind damage to the polytape, one can help things greatly by putting three twists in the tape between each set of posts; but closer spacing is also called for between posts (20 feet as compared to 35 feet), which makes the polytape kits more expensive than the polyrope versions and more time-consuming to install.

COST: As low as $1.00 per foot for fences running 1200 feet or more. Four corners included; charger, ground rod, and gate(s) not included.
