Electric Fence Insulators, Tensioners, and Clamps
These products do several jobs. They hold the active electrified conductor (and also any grounded conductors) in such a way that the electrified conductor stays out of contact with any non-insulated surface (including wood). They take the conductor around corners and also hold it securely at gates and other places where a run of conductor ends. Finally, they maintain the conductor under whatever degree of tension is desired–at least enough tension so that the conductor doesn’t sag. The number of insulators cleverly devised to do these jobs is so great as to defy any sort of brief description. However, there’s really no need for such a “brief” description. All that’s needed is to know that some sort of device is available to do each of these jobs–and in fact is both available and easily located among the roughly 150 insulators, tensioners, and clamps in our products section, regardless of the types of posts and conductors being installed.
You can do this, after you have selected your posts and conductors, by going to our insulator listing in the products section (see insulators for wood and vinyl posts, insulators for steel T-posts, insulators for steel U-posts and chain link fence, or insulators for round posts) and use the menu at the top of the page that comes up to click on those insulators that are designed for the type of conductor you plan to use. When you get there, be sure to look at all the subcategories involved (including line insulators and corner/end insulators). After that, have a look at the much smaller and separate products section called electric fence tensioners/tighteners, splicers, joiners, and clamps and peruse both the tensioner/tightener and splicer/joiner/clamp areas for products that may be useful.
