Dare Sentry, Model DS 300 – Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed

The Dare Sentry DS 300 model is a high-performance electric fence charger that puts out 0.75 joules and uses advanced technology to provide peak output under difficult conditions. The unit can use either a 6-volt or a 12-volt battery as its power source. Like the DSX 140, the DS 300 has an all-weather case and built-in lightning protection. It comes with instructions and a one-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects and lightning damage. Batteries not included.

Parmak DF-LI-UO Low Impedance

Parmak DF-LI-UO – Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed

The popular DF-LI-UO is fully weatherproof and portable (as the EM-200 is not); and while this electric fence charger cannot handle heavy weed burdens, it is good at powering both temporary and permanent horse fences with light weed burdens and favorable grounding conditions (meaning at least marginal moisture in the soil and temperatures above freezing or else a fence where alternating charged and grounded conductors are on the line). The charger, which uses a 6-volt battery, comes with instructions and Parmak’s one-year warranty covering defects and lightning damage. A light flashes when the system is working properly. Six-volt battery not included. Should more joules and weed-handling capacity be desired, Parmak’s three-joule Magnum 12 U.O. (see below) is a good choice.

Parmak Surround Em

Parmak Surround Em (EM-200) – Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed

This is the battery-powered equivalent of Parmak’s AC-powered Horse Surround 100 (product 01-04). Using a 12-volt battery as its power source and rated at 1.5 stored joules, the EM-200 is only a little more powerful than Parmak’s DF-LI-UO described above. Neither this electric fence charger nor the DF-LI-UO can handle moderate to heavy weed burdens (equivalent to a 100 ohm pathway from the fence to the ground), and so they should be limited to powering horse fences where only minor weed burdens or like problems are expected. The EM-200 features advanced solid-state circuitry and comes with instructions and Parmak’s one-year warranty covering defects and lightning damage. A pair of lights show when the charger and fence system are working properly. Unlike the DF-LI-UO, this electric fence charger must be installed in a dry location protected from the weather. Instructions and mounting screws included. Twelve-volt battery not included.

Parmak Magnum 12 UO - Low Impedance

Parmak Magnum 12 U.O. – Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed

Parmak’s most powerful battery-operated electric fence charger (comparable to the solar-powered Solar Pak 12), the Magnum 12 U.O. is both weatherproof and portable. The compact unit works off a 12-volt storage battery (not included). A bit too powerful for small horse enclosures, this charger is well-suited to powering long fences enclosing pastures where AC current is not available and light to moderate weed burdens are expected. The Magnum 12 U.O. comes with instructions and a one-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects and lightning damage. A performance meter on the face of the charger indicates whether the charger and fence are operating properly.
