About Our AC-powered Electric Fence Chargers
All the AC-powered electric fence chargers that we offer are designed to plug directly into a 120-110- volt AC outlet. All are low-impedance chargers, and all but the little Dare 80 are UL listed. All of these electric fence chargers produce sufficient voltage under good conditions to shock horses. However, the power of the shock they can administer varies greatly, as indicated by joule ratings ranging all the way from 0.2 for the Dare Enforcer 80 to 12 for Parmak’s Range Master. The weaker ones are suitable for use at paddocks and other small horse enclosures, and for use with relatively short barrier horse fences where the object is to keep horses from leaning on the fence. Progressively stronger electric fence chargers, such as Parmak’s Fieldmaster 2 or Mark 7, can be used to power a considerably longer electric horse fence and to help cope with problems like significant weed burdens. Such burdens are handled especially well by the Dare chargers, which increase their output to compensate for power drained off the fence by contact with weeds and other objects.
Dare Enforcers 80, 300, 600, and 1200 Low Impedance Electric Fence Chargers
The Dare Enforcer series of electric fence chargers features all-weather construction and modular circuitry for fast and easy service. The Enforcer 80, with a mere 0.2 joule output, is not recommended for use with a stand-alone electric horse fence. However, it does a good job powering electrical systems that protect existing barrier horse fences by preventing horses from leaning on them. In fact, the Enforcer 80 is especially well suited to this job in small enclosures, because the minor shock it gives is less likely to startle horses than are the shocks administered by more powerful chargers. Both the Enforcer 80 and the more powerful UL listed Dare Enforcers 300, 600, and 1200 (0.75 joules, 1.5 joules, and 3 joules, respectively) are designed to maintain a high joule output under difficult horse fence conditions, increasing their output to make up for power drained off the fence line by weeds and brush. For this reason they can outperform electric fence chargers that have considerably higher stored joule ratings. These chargers come with built-in lightning protection, instructions, and a one-year warranty covering both defects and lightning damage. A flashing light indicates whether the charger and fence are working properly.
