Parmak Mark 7 (MK-7) Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger, UL Listed, 1 Joule
Basically, Parmak’s Mark 7 is a stronger version of the Parmak Fieldmaster 2. So long as one is using a single 12.5 gauge galvanized steel wire with perfect connections as one’s fence, the Mark 7 is capable of charging up to 30 miles of fence. Voltage and joule data: Parmak reports that the MK-7 is an electric fence charger that puts out 11,000 volts on an open circuit and is good at handling weeds—so good that a minor (500 ohm) weed burden will only reduce the line voltage to around 7,500 volts and a heavy weed burden providing a 100-ohm path to the ground will still leave some 4,600 volts on the line. The MK-7 is rated by us at about 1 joule. Target animals: The MK-7 is useful for containing cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. It is also suited to repelling deer with both baited and unbaited electric fences (see electric deer fence options) and to keeping out many other wild animals including javelinas, feral pigs, coyotes, mountain lions, wolves, bears, and bison. General data: The MK-7 features advanced solid-state circuitry, double fuse protection with built-in lightning arrestors, color coded positive and ground terminals, a digital display that indicates when the electric fence charger and its immediate connections are working properly, and a one-year warranty against defects and lightning damage. The MK-7 must be installed in a clean, dry location protected from the weather. Instructions and mounting screws are included.
